UPDATE: EPA BAN ON AMMUNITION PDF Print E-mail

Responding to a grassroots outcry from gun owners, the Environmental Protection Agency today announced that it has denied a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity and other radical groups that had sought to ban the use of lead in ammunition.

Agreeing with the position of the NRA and the firearms industry, the agency explained in a news release that it "does not have the legal authority to regulate this type of product under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)."  Further crushing the hopes of anti-gun and anti-hunting activists, the release added: "nor is the agency seeking such authority.

FKSSA August Meeting

8/2/2010

 

BOD present; Jon, Greg, Michelle, Mike, Dave B, Dave D, Tim and Loren.

Visitors; Brad Driml and Jim Smith.

 

Called to order 7:45.

 

Treasurers and Secretaries report read and approved.

No old business was brought up.

Finalization of By-laws, rifle range building progress, upper clubhouse doors and windows were discussed. Motion was made and seconded to hire someone to replace the two main doors and the two pass through windows. Doors to be replaced with some that are to code for fire safety. $2700 will take care of all material and labor.

Brad Driml discussed some of the grants in process and some possible in the future.

We will be hosting an Open House Aug 16th from 5-7pm. Volunteers are needed as are donations for refreshments. Michelle is heading this event. Please contact her with questions. She also discussed other upcoming events and what will be needed from the club members.

Loren brought up problems with the trap throwers and the problems with adjustments. People who may be able to help will be contacted.

Bathrooms are in and working. Some final details like door locks and ceilings need to be finished and that will be done very soon.

Tom gave his report. Discussion turned to the continued lack of him having a LLC and what he needs to get that ASAP. He was given until 8/4/10 to get it or measures will be taken to protect the club.

The money shoot was set for Sunday Aug. 22nd from 8-2:30. Jobs and duties were discussed with people set to head up those jobs. As always, volunteers are needed.

No further business. Motion was made to adjourn at 9:45.

WHAT IS THE NEBRASKA FIREARMS OWNERS ASSOCIATION?

"NFOA organized for the purpose of voicing the opinion of it's membership to the Nebraska Legislature and other law making bodies within the state as well as Federal level, as it pertains to firearms.  NFOA members will also make it a priority to educate residents on firearm related issues."

This not-for-profit organization is open to you as a Nebraska resident and welcomes you whether your are interested in target, trap, self-defense, hunting, competint, or collecting.  It is their mission to provide a consistent and unified voice for ALL of Nebraska's firearms owners.  While there are NO FEES to join the NFOA, donations (non tax-deductible) are gladly accepted to help defer the costs of running the many facets of the organization, and it's website.
